To transfer an account to Common Wealth, we'll need the account number from your current financial institution. Here's how to find it.
On a recent account statement
The fastest way to find your account number is on a statement from the past 6 months. Look for it:
- Near the top of the statement
- Beside or below the account name
- In the account summary section
In your online account or app
Sign in to your current institution's website or app and head to the section where you view your investments — this is usually called something like Accounts, My Investments, or Portfolios. Select the specific account you're transferring, and your account number should appear nearby.
Note — be careful of client number vs. account number. These aren't the same thing. Make sure you're using the number tied to the specific account you're transferring, not your general client or profile number.
Still can't find it?
If your account number isn't where you'd expect it to be, the quickest path is to contact your current financial institution directly — they can confirm it over the phone or by email. You're also welcome to reach out to our support team if you'd like a hand.
